Everyone’s trying to live forever.

From Silicon Valley’s longevity startups to influencers sharing their anti-aging “stacks,” we may be the first generation to chase eternal life without God.

But while the world is trying to stretch time, God tells us something else entirely:

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12

When Moses prayed those words, he wasn’t asking God to help him count birthdays. He was asking for perspective.

To “number our days” means to remember we are dust — and yet loved dust.
It means realizing that time is a gift, not a guarantee. It’s the humility that says, “I don’t control the length of my life, but I can control its depth.”

The world seeks to extend life.
The believer seeks to expend life — in worship, service, and love.

Wisdom counts moments not to preserve them, but to pour them out.

The New Immortality Projects

Modern culture is building its own Tower of Babel — one supplement, peptide, and algorithm at a time.

  • Tech billionaires are funding life-extension labs hoping to “cure” death.
  • Cryogenic companies promise resurrection through science.
  • Biohackers chase youth through red light therapy, fasting, and stem cells.

These efforts aren’t just about health — they’re about control.
But death doesn’t negotiate. Every human life extension plan eventually runs out of runway.

When the fear of aging drives our choices, we risk idolizing health and youth.
Jesus warned,

“What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” — Mark 8:36

Wisdom counts the cost.
Obsession counts the calories.

We can chase vitality without worshiping it.
Steward your body — but don’t serve it.

The World The Word
“Extend your days.” “Redeem the time.” — Ephesians 5:16
“Defy death.” “Die daily.” — 1 Corinthians 15:31
“Upgrade your biology.” “Renew your mind.” — Romans 12:2
“You can live forever.” “I am the Resurrection and the Life.” — John 11:25

Jesus didn’t come to help us cheat death.
He came to defeat it.

Eternal life isn’t found in a lab, a supplement stack, or a cryogenic tank —
it’s found in a Lord who conquered the grave.

The cross exposes our fragility.
The empty tomb offers our future.
Immortality isn’t something we invent — it’s something we inherit.

“And this is eternal life, that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” — John 17:3
  • Start your day numbering, not scrolling. Begin with gratitude instead of notifications.
  • Thank God for one breath, one body, one chance to love.
  • Invest more in eternal character than external longevity.
  • Live today as if you’ll see Jesus tonight.
  • End your day asking, “Did I count this day, or just consume it?”

🧍‍♂️ Imago Dei & Dignity
Every wrinkle and gray hair is a story of grace — not decay. (Proverbs 16:31)

⚖️ Clout / Cash / Complicity
When youth becomes currency, age becomes shame. The gospel redeems both.

💔 Gospel & Renewal
You don’t need a new cell structure — you need a new heart. (Ezekiel 36:26)

Lord, teach us to number our days — not to make them longer, but to make them count.
Give us hearts of wisdom that seek You above youth, and eternity above efficiency.
Help us live not for more years, but for more yes to You.
Amen.
